100 Awful Movies

As the bitter cold of 2005 gave way to spring, a group of Atlanta residents decided to take on a project of viewing the movies on the Bottom 100 list at The Internet Movie Database. This is their true story.

Some have asked, “Why not watch the top 100 movies?” The simple answer is that the good don’t hold quite the same charm. True, viewing a truly good movie can be an incredible experience; the best of movies touch the viewer and are important things to be treasured as part of the collective art of our culture, but bad movies are special experiences of their own. Whether they fall short of their lofty goals or simply had no goals from the start, these are still extranordinary works created by misguided hands, things to be pondered, savored, endured. Inspired in part by Mystery Science Theater and watching TBS, the craving was born to see the depths to which man can plummet. Besides, we’ve seen most of the good movies.

To avoid problems arising from the inconstant nature of this constantly-updated list, it was decided to use the list from April 12th, 2005, the date chosen for the start of this arduous trek. As the movies are viewed, reviews will be posted here as reminders, as warnings, and, perhaps, as a cheap laugh.
