Post-switch ponderings on gophernet

My experiment with moving to gopher has been successful thus far. Only one person has complained that he can’t get to it, so I assume that the rest of you have either figured it out or don’t care. Either way, hurray.

I just had the most tiring nap in the world. I woke up, and my heart was racing and my arms were twitching. I don’t remember dreaming about anything, which leaves either a lightning strike or a visit from the crack gnomes as the most likely explanations. Isn’t sleep supposed to be relaxing? Stupid sleeping. I just visited the webpage for the National Sleep Foundation (there’s a foundation?), and the front page suggests that maybe caffeine is my problem. I’m not sure how accurate their “Caffeine Calculator” is for me, since I just guessed on the number of cokes I drink in a day (it wouldn’t take “a lot” as an answer), and I’ve always been accused of making coffee at lethal strength. Besides that, the options seem to be geared towards to the Starbucks consumer, with choices like “Coffee, tall” and “Orange Cappucino.” The units for what appear to be the normal cups of coffee are multiples of 8 ounces, instead of 6, which makes it even more confusing. So, muddling through that, the calculator thinks I consume 593 milligrams of caffeine in a day, with a note below that reads, “Remember that most scientists say a daily caffeine consumption of about 250 milligrams or less poses no harm.” Maybe I ought to cut back a little bit.

I like the giant inflatible gorilla as a means of selling cars much better than the wind-blown dancing guy attached to a fan. The gorilla might be less dynamic, but it has more of a message. “This sale’s huge! Like this big
